The Medical Research Council (MRC) is inviting applications from experts with the experience and expertise to become members of MRC boards and panels from 1 April 2024.
We particularly welcome applications from currently under-represented groups, including women and ethnic minority researchers, and researchers with disabilities or long-term conditions.
MRC’s research boards and panels play a key role in delivering MRC objectives across our portfolio of research. They hold their own research budgets and review and manage activity and strategies in their research areas, and work co-operatively in areas of common interest.

The Medical Research Council (MRC) is seeking to appoint a new chair for DPFS to commence on 1 April 2024.
DPFS is MRC’s core translational research funding scheme. It aims to drive novel therapeutics, devices, diagnostics and other interventions along the developmental pathway towards patient and economic benefit. Its remit spans early prototype discovery and design through to early phase clinical trials (I to IIa).
The chair will need to value and include diverse research expertise, backgrounds, experience levels and contributions to work together in assessment of each application and development of wider strategy.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) have an exciting opportunity for one to two non-executive directors to join its board to ensure BGS carries out its activities in line with the Natural Environment Research Council governance framework, ensuring high quality organisational governance.
You will bring your sector experience and exceptional knowledge to provide constructive challenge to the BGS Director and Senior Management Board, as well as offering support and advice on key issues and policies as needed.
Acting as an advocate for BGS, you will actively participate in planning and evaluation activities as well as ad-hoc assignments.

Science Board (PPAN) will provide the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) with strategic scientific advice on, and assessment of, the STFC Particle Physics, Astronomy and Nuclear Physics (PPAN) programme. This includes particle astrophysics, space science and the accelerator and computational requirements of the science programmes.
This new board is being created following our governance review, and is seeking two members in astronomy.
