Details

The MRC working group on sex in experimental design of animal research met on 6 September 2021.

They discussed the features of a policy on the consideration of sex as a variable in experimental design. This was for animal, tissue, and cell research that would be feasible, enforceable, and improve MRC-funded research quality. They also explored how these changes might be implemented.

The working group was comprised of experts and the attached report contains their recommendations for the MRC to adopt. The working group was comprised of experts in:

  • animal
  • tissue and cell research
  • experimental design
  • statistics.
