Anne Ferguson-Smith is the Arthur Balfour Professor of Genetics and Head of the Department of Genetics at the University of Cambridge. She received her PhD from the Department of Biology at Yale University.
For the nearly three decades, her team has studied:
- mammalian developmental genetics
- epigenetic inheritance
- the epigenetic control of genome function.
Her current research applies experimental, computational and bioinformatics approaches to contemporary questions in mammalian functional genomics and epigenetics with particular relevance for environment and disease.
She is a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator, elected member of EMBO, a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society.
