Kellie Beirne

Council member – Research England

Period of appointment – three years, from January 2020 to March 2023.

Kellie Beirne is the Director of the Cardiff Capital Region City Deal, an agreement between the UK government, Welsh government and the ten local authority leaders of South East Wales as part of a £1.2 billion growth fund.

Kellie was formerly Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Monmouthshire County Council – a former finalist in Nesta’s Creative Councils. Kellie is chair of the Innovation Advisory Council for Wales and a member of the Science and Innovation Advisory Panel for Wales.

Kellie has led on delivery of the first project for CCR City Deal – a £410 million deal to anchor a compound semiconductor cluster in the region – and is a director of Co-Innovate.
