Strategic Lead for Society, Governance and Security
The team leads the Economic and Social Research Council’s (ESRC) research commissioning, development and management activities for areas including security, crime and justice, migration, governance and politics, public services and economics.
Andrew first joined the ESRC in 2008 and has had roles in research commissioning and development, corporate strategy, and evaluation and analysis. Andrew completed his PhD in Criminology at the University of Bristol in 2013, having previously studied social research methods and Social Policy at the Universities of Manchester and Plymouth. Before returning to ESRC in 2020, Andrew spent four years as Senior Lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire, teaching quantitative and qualitative social research methods, evidence-based policy and practice and crime science and publishing on crime reduction in urban environments.
