In the run-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), we asked our researchers to tell us about their work and the challenges of tackling climate change.

Navraj Singh Ghaleigh is the senior lecturer in Climate Law at the University of Edinburgh.

Navraj’s research and teaching are based around what happens when law and legal institutions hit climate action and change. For example, how oil and gas pathways in the North Sea relate to climate change, and in labour law, what happens to oil and gas workers during the transition.

Navraj says of his hopes for COP26:

I think what would be really helpful is if we could get a stronger societal sense, so governments, individuals, communities, businesses, non-governmental organisations and so on, of what the reality of a net zero transition is going to mean.
