Funding opportunity: Pre-announcement: early stage research and development scheme

Apply for funding to support low technology readiness levels with a focus on development in the Particle Physics, Astronomy and Nuclear Physics community.

You must be eligible to hold UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) grants and be from either:

  • a UK higher education institution
  • a research council institute
  • an independent research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Funding will be available for up to three years.

The funding opportunity will open on 20 July 2022. More information will be available on this page by then.

Who can apply

You must be eligible to hold UKRI grants and be from either:

  • a UK higher education institution
  • a research council institute
  • an independent research organisation eligible for UKRI funding.

Researchers in the STFC Particle Physics, Astronomy and Nuclear Physics  community who have been or currently are in receipt of STFC funding are invited to apply.

You must encompass the following broad areas of STFC’s remit, which includes:

  • particle physics
  • particle astrophysics
  • astronomy
  • nuclear physics
  • accelerator physics
  • solar and planetary science
  • computing that underpins these areas.
