Money follows cooperation agreement with Research Council Norway

Five UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) councils are signed up to a money follows cooperation agreement with Research Council Norway (RCN):

  • Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)
  • Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
  • Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
  • Medical Research Council (MRC)
  • Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)

Under the agreement both RCN and the participating UKRI councils will reciprocally open their agreed national research funding opportunities to collaborative applications involving researchers from the other country as co-investigators.

It allows inclusion of co-investigators employed by a Norwegian institution (Norway co-investigator) in applications submitted by a UK-based principal investigator to eligible UKRI funding opportunities published by each of the participating research councils.

Full details on how to include a Norway-based co-investigator or co-investigators are available on the funding opportunity page: collaborate with researchers in Norway.

The agreement also allows for the inclusion of UK-based co-investigators in applications to RCN. For more details on this please visit the RCN website.

Some EPSRC funding opportunities are excluded from the agreement. You will need to ensure you have read the specific funding opportunity guidance to which an application is being submitted.
