BBSRC – an open organisation

Principles of openness for BBSRC

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) aspires to be a responsible organisation and as part of this we are striving to be an open organisation. Across all our work, we will ensure that resource is allocated appropriately to enable openness. Aspects such as privacy and commercial sensitivity will be considered and balanced against the aspiration for openness so that actions taken are appropriate and proportionate.

Transparent

Operating in such a way that it is easy for others to see the motivations and processes of an organisation and the decisions and actions that are taken. This includes the timely and accurate provision of information that is relevant, accessible and usable.

Participatory

Opening up BBSRC thinking, planning and process so that a wide range of stakeholders are involved, or can easily become involved. BBSRC is committed to listening to, and responding to, such involvement.

Accountable

The acknowledgement of responsibility for actions and decisions, and encompassing the expectation of being answerable for resulting consequences.
